Short Reflection for the 5^th Sunday of the Ordinary Time (C)

Readings:  Isaiah 6: 1-8; 1 Corinthians 15: 1-11; Luke 5: 1-11

Selected Passage:  After he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, "Put out into deep water and lower your nets for a catch." Simon said in reply, "Master, we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing, but at your command I will lower the nets."  (Luke 5: 4-5)

Reflection:  Today we hear the same invitation: ‘put out into deep…’ Do we have the faith to do so notwithstanding the cost? Perhaps, like Simon Peter, we have toiled hard and for a long time, yet we hold on to our belief and continue to hope that things will be better.  At the Lord’s command, we, too, are willing to lower the nets yet for another time….
