Short Reflection for the 25th Sunday in Ordinary Time (C)
Readings: Amos 8: 4-7; 1 Timothy 2: 1-8; Luke 16: 1-13
Selected Gospel Passage: “The master commended the dishonest steward for his shrewdness; for the sons of this world are shrewder in dealing with their own generation than the sons of light. And I tell you, make friends for yourselves by means of unrighteous mammon, so that when it fails they may receive you into the eternal habitations.” (Luke. 16: 8-9)
Meditation: The original meaning of "shrewdness" is "practical wisdom" or "prudence". It is the ability to deal with a given situation, to see what needs to be done and to do it. We are challenged to have that foresight, discernment, and judgment (the ability to see through and understand a situation and what will likely happen if we do not take appropriate action.
