7th Sunday in Ordinary Time (C)

Short Reflection for the 7th Sunday of the Ordinary Time (C)

Readings: 1 Samuel 26: 7-9. 12-13, 2-23; 1 Corinthians 15: 45-49; Luke 6: 27-38

Selected Passage: : “To you who hear I say, love tour enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. To the person who strikes you on one cheek, offer the other one as well, and from the person who takes your cloak, do not withhold even your tunic.”  (Luke 7: 27-29)

Reflection: Jesus’ instruction to his disciples shows the newness and the radicalness of the Christian message. Loving your enemies; doing good to those who hate you; blessing those who curse you; praying for those who mistreat you are not the usual and normal behavior of people. People strike back!  Yet, Jesus is telling his followers no, do not strike back but rather do otherwise.  Definitely, this is a hard saying, yet this is the new measure in the following of Jesus.  Cf. www.badaliyya.blogspot.com

DHIKR PRAYER SIMPLE METHOD...
Dhikr is an Arabic word for remembrance. In the “tariqa” (the way) movement, Dhikr developed into a form of prayer… It is a prayer of the heart… following three simple steps:

1.Write in one’s heart a certain passage of the Holy Writ…
2.Make the same passage ever present in one’s lips.
3.Then wait for God’s disclosure on the meaning of the passage…that interprets one’s life NOW…!

It takes a week of remembering (dhikr)…or even more days to relish the beauty of this method…
